Hussian Chalyan and Lucy Orta

Hussian Chalyan

This is a coffee table. Hussien constructed this garment with the idea of taking your home with you. Orinally there was a setting with 3 chair and a table, and three models come in and everything in the room can be worn.

This is the airplane dress. Its made from fiberglass and is controlled by remote control. Parts of the dress actually shift in shape.

This dress looks at the idea of migration

This model orignally walked out wearing allot of unshaped tulle. A man with a hedge trimmer and shaped the tulle into the above shape.

This dress is made up from over 200 lasers.

Lucy Orta

This is a modular fashion statements in which all the designs are connected.

Jackie Kennedy essay

My question:

How did Jackie Kennedy influence fashion during her time in the white house? What was her impact as a fashion icon and is that impact still relevant today?

1. Dissect your question to figure out what it is asking you and what you need to adress?

Look at Jackie Kennedy
The fashion she wore
The time
How she influenced fashion/trends/society

2. Scope: explore the scope of your response

Jackie Kennedy, who was she, what she did
Fashion at the time
Social and cultural reasons she might have been so influential
The fashion - did she make it/ promote it

3. frame your response

in my essay i will cover...
A short introduction to who Jackie kennedy was
The time - life in the 1960's
The designer - Oleg Cassini
The typical Jackie Kennedy look
How her look influenced later fashion

Our tribe.

For this lesson we were given a totem, colour, national food, jewels, animal and a trading item. From these things we needed to make a tribe that linked these items together, make a story of creation, religion, values, type of clothing and why we wore that clothing.

My groups items....
Totem : A bear made from patterned bee fabric (Bee bear)
Colour : Red
Food : Pine nuts
Jewels : Safety pins
Animal : wiki flower snake
Trading item : wishing stones.

We named our tribe : THE FLONADS.

The flonads and are a peaceful and small tribe. We work around nature making every effect to conserve and maintain the environment. This is why we are nomads continually moving around to avoid making an impact on the environment.
We live in a swamp in the tree tops, can cannot step foot on the ground because of the deadly wiki snake.

The weather is very humid however we do have a short monsoon season.

We are vegetarians and our main nutrition comes from pine nuts and honey. We are careful to make no waste and thus make use of everything.
We worship the bee bear, she is out God.
Since the bee bear is decorated in bees they are very significant. We have an elder who is guided by the bee bear and makes decisions based on the bees behaviour.

Since red (our national colour) is of limited supply we mainly only wear it for religious occasions. However the religious and tribe leaders always wear some red.The red dye is made from crushed berries.
Red is significant because it is the colour of blood. By holding red as a sacred colour we are recognised that blood is precious, and limited. Blood is not to be spilled.

We have two leaders a religious and tribe. The tribe leader is the boss of the tribe and makes final decisions on if we should move on, stay etc. However the religious leader offers guidance and advice on the same issues.
As people get older they become more important. But women are always more important than men.
We do not believe in exclusive sexual relationships or marriage but free love.

Safety pins (our jewel) are precious and are the skeletons of the wiki worm (the wiki snakes favourite meal). We wear these jewels to honor the snakes and recognise its power.

The wishing stones (our trading item) are sap from the trees that are cured.

For clothing we wear pants made from shredded snake skin. Two separate pieces are wound around the legs and hips and ties together. this enables us to climb trees more effectively.
We also wear a poncho on top that is made from leaves and coated in tree sap to protect us from the weather.

Because we a peaceful people we are not very vein and our main reason for wearing clothes is practicality and enforcing our values.
